Too often, we are told to go to the gym, or meditate, or see a therapist, but those suggestions are just handed off without any thought to the rest of our identity outside of our depression. In other words, telling a cisgender person to go to the gym might be a great idea and it might be really helpful. Telling a transgender person to go to the gym with gendered locker rooms might be incredibly triggering/upsetting. Telling a cisgender person to go to the gym could also be an awful idea too.
